Real Estate Photographers Need This Equipment To Take Quality Pictures

King Estate Winery in Lane County, Oregon The Photography for Real Estate blog wrote a post called So You Want To Be A Real Estate Photographer.  Since a big part of attracting buyers and selling homes starts online, excellent photos are an important element in a Realtor's marketing package.  The post identifies some of the essential gear that a photographer should have if he or she wants to become a professional real estate photographer:

  • Wide-angle lens with a focal length between 14 and 24 mm
  • DSLR camera body
  • Tripod
  • Small flashes
  • Post processing software like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements
  • Knowledge of your craft

Hasard House in Drain, OregonA quick look through the listings of my local RMLS shows that many people don't use professional photographers, don't have or use the necessary equipment, and lack photographic skills.

How important are good photographs in marketing your listings?  Is there value in hiring a professional to take property photos for you?
