What Should I Expect From A Real Estate Agent or Property Manager?

Home for Sale Poster in Eugene, OregonI recently read a thoughtful post on the Oregon Real Estate Agency's blog by Oregon Real Estate Board Member Diana Emami - What I Expect from a Real Estate Agent or Property Manager.  She talks about some of the qualities that she would expect from real estate professionals if she was their client:

1.  Be Professional

2.  Be Knowledgeable

3.  Maintain Privacy and Integrity

4.  Follow Up

5.  Keep Good Records

6.  Be Truthful About Work Load

7.  Love What You Do

She concludes by saying "These are just a few key ingredients of what I expect every agent to have in this industry, above and beyond what is required by the Oregon Real Estate Agency."

It's a good list that holds for anyone in business for themselves.  I would add such additional qualities as:

1.  Place Your Client's Needs Before Your Own

2.  Put Forth Your Best Efforts

3.  Regularly Communicate What You're Doing to Help Your Client

4.  Continue to Learn and Get Better at Your Profession

If you were the client, what would you expect from the real estate professional that you hire?
